Negotiation Complete

Negotiation is one of those ubiquitous life skills that I have always wanted to become proficient at and this was a great opportunity for me to hone it. After finding “Never Split the Difference: Negotiating As If Your Life Depended On It” by Chris Voss at my local Barnes & Noble, I’ve been semi-obsessed with the subject and started perusing negotiation forums online. I eventually found an opportunity to take an online course on negotiation offered by Yale University through Coursera (called “Introduction to Negotiation: A Strategic Playbook for Becoming a Principled and Persuasive Negotiator“).

To my surprise, it was taught by Barry Nalebuff, an author of one of my favorite books — The Art of Strategy. The course uses game theory concepts and collaborative negotiation principles which you learn about at your own pace. You even get to apply the skills in negotiation exercises with other students!

I highly recommend the course! It’s free and the skill will pay dividends in your life — assuming you put it to practice. You can even get a cool certificate to stare at as you pat yourself on the back when you finish!
